Potential Clinic in the Newcastle Area – Register Your Interest!
I’ve been asked to potentially run a classical riding and biomechanics clinic in the Newcastle area — and before we confirm, I’m putting feelers out to see how much interest there is locally. Here’s a little about me and the clinic: I’m Liana Upton, a coach and biomechanics specialist focusing on rider posture, seat training, and classical riding techniques. I’m a certified teacher of the École de Légèreté—a training system founded by Philippe Karl, former écuyer of the Cadre Noir in Saumur, France. This method emphasizes lightness, respect, and correct biomechanics, using only the simplest of tack. No force, no gadgets. I’m also the founder of the Sit Well Method, a rider fitness and posture program designed to enhance the rider’s seat and effectiveness through body awareness and alignment.

What the clinic involves: Private lessons covering any or all of:
• In-hand work
• Ridden work
• Rider biomechanics

A strong focus on relaxation, posture and balance in both horse and rider for healthy movement and longevity.
• A 30-minute Riders off the horse Posture & Movement Class at lunchtime (open to all riders and spectators)
• Theory & Q&A session at the end of the day – this is a key part of the clinic to help riders really understand and apply the principles of the École de Légèreté

The venue is a beautiful indoor facility north west of Newcastle (details to follow), and the atmosphere will be welcoming, supportive, and open to all abilities.
If you’d be interested in a rider or spectator place, please drop me a message to register your interest. If we have enough numbers, we’ll go ahead and confirm a date!
